Imagine life without music!

“If I were not a physicist, I would probably be a musician. I often think in music. I live my daydreams in music. I see my life in terms of music” – Albert Einstein

Music is in the air – literally – with music talent shows airing globally on the television, we are blown away by the talent of these budding artists. They may go on to become household names, just as the amazing musicians of the past eras have.

What genre of music do you like?

  • Why not create conversation and rapport in the classroom this week by introducing music in general?  Across all generations, music is a huge interest, and exchanging opinions and tastes is a great way for students to interact with each other and with teachers, focusing on a subject they love.

It is interesting to discuss and introduce the current favourite hit songs. It is honteresting to play music and compare classical with pop and rock genres.

  • Open up class discussions with students imagining what they would be thinking all those years ago. How would they get their musical message across?

Combining history and the world today doesn’t have to be boring. Introducing students to our early musicians, from Mozart to the legendary, Elvis and John Lennon, as well as to a variety of styles and tastes serves to broaden ones horizons. It is often said that music is a universal language!

Bringing historical and iconic musicians into the classroom, as exemplars of achieving great success by having developed their talents will inspire any budding musician, or indeed anyone that has a dream they wish to fulfill. Our greatest musicians have succeeded in reaching the stars, so why not encourage our students to follow in their footsteps?

These historical greats and their achievements are a solid foundation of proof for teachers, parents and students, that determination, hard work and commitment pay off. This provides an effective way of reinforcing work ethics and an appreciation of how others have, not only changed our world, but truly encouraged and inspired our generation.
