February is Black History Month – Meet three amazing individuals!
In conjunction with BLACK HISTORY MONTH, we introduce three amazing individuals who truly believed in freedom, achievement and self-worth. Most certainly they believed in equality!
Frederick Douglass was also born in the month of February. He had much respect for the work and convictions of Harriet Tubman. He wrote to Harriet and in his letter he praised her, “I know of no one who has willingly encountered more perils and hardships to serve our enslaved people than you have”. Frederick had much to say when he gained the freedom to do so!
It was amazing people like Frederick Douglass, Harriet Tubman and Sojourner Truth that made great sacrifices and played a vital role in the fight that led to the end slavery in America.

Join Frederick Douglass on his journey from slavery to freedom, from the plantation fields in Maryland to the streets of New York City and appointments to several political positions. In fact, he was nominated for Vice President of the United States in the 1872 elections! Frederick was the first African-American to be nominated.
What do you know about Harriet Tubman? Embark on a captivating history story like no other and visit Harriet and find out more about her amazing life. Born into slavery, Harriet became an abolitionist and humanitarian and went on to become a source of inspiration to others.
Sojourner Truth exemplified courage and determination. She was an African-American abolitionist and women’s rights activist and her story is one of great hardship and perseverance, proving her ability to overcome any barriers.
